Are the tours always the same?

Tours vary during Keeneland's racing season in April and October. During the race season we go to Keeneland in the morning every day and only Monday and Tuesday afternoons. An additional farm or other venue is substituted for Keeneland.

Where do we meet the tour?

Our primary hotel pickup location is the Embassy Suites Hotel (1801 Newtown Pike) in Lexington. We pick up in front of the main entrance and you should be there 5 to 10 minutes before the departure time of 8:30 am and 12:30 pm. Note that if you are driving the Embassy Suites has a large parking lot where you can park for free.

What if I am late?

We leave on time and to be fair to everyone we cannot wait. If you are running late by a couple of minutes call (859) 260-8687 and we will try to assist you but no guarantee.

Are we on the van the whole tour?

Absolutely not. The tour takes place on a van since the locations are spread around the Lexington area. But we get off the van at Keeneland Race Course and at one of the premier thoroughbred farms giving you the opportunity to experience the locations and to take pictures.

Is there an age limit?

There is no age limit but a ticket is required for all children. It is not recommended for children under six. Kentucky State Law requires infants and/or toddlers must be in a car seat, rear facing until 2 years of age. Children younger than 8 years old and between 40 and 57 inches must be in a booster. Children younger than 8 but taller than 57 inches do not have to ride in a booster seat. KRS 189.125(3)(b) (state law).

Are food or drinks offered on the tour?

No food is provided or allowed on the van. You may bring covered or bottled beverages.

Will we be able to purchase gifts on the tour?

We generally allow a few minutes at the Keeneland gift shop, time permitting.

Is there a restroom stop?

Yes, we stop for one restroom break.

What happens if it rains?

Our tours go on rain or shine and we have only cancelled one time due to weather. Please dress appropriately for the weather as we do get off the van several times. During inclement weather we have covered walkways at Keeneland and are generally inside the thoroughbred barns when we visit the farm.

Is there a reschedule policy?

We will allow rescheduling to another tour or a gift certificate exchange, subject to availability, only if you do so at least 48 hours in advance.

Are animals allowed?

No animals are allowed on the tours. The farms we visit do not allow animals on the farm except their own.
